Marketing Campaigns sends email to a group of your contacts, organizations or leads, tracks who opens and clicks, and can follow up automatically.
Creating a campaign
Click Marketing Campaigns in the sidebar, then add a campaign. A guided wizard takes you through five steps:
| Step | What you set |
|---|---|
| Basics | The campaign’s name, and who it comes from: your connected mailbox, the company’s server or a bulk email service. Choose where replies go. |
| Audience | Who receives it: choose Contacts, Organizations or Leads, then an Existing List (one of your saved lists) or a Custom Segment built from rules. You see how many records match, and choose which email field to send To (plus optional Cc and Bcc). |
| Content | Start from a saved template or write the email here. Insert Variable adds details such as each person’s first name. Attach documents if needed. |
| Schedule | Send now, or pick a date, time and time zone. Add follow-up emails that go out automatically. |
| Review | Check everything, then click Save & Send (or Save & Schedule), or Save as Draft to finish later. Only a draft can be edited; a scheduled campaign can be moved back to draft from More until it starts sending. |
Automatic follow-ups
A follow-up is another email sent after a wait, to the people who responded — or didn’t — in a certain way: who opened, didn’t open, clicked or didn’t click.
You can choose to stop when the person clicks a link or replies, and to send only during business hours (Monday to Friday, 9:00–18:00). Follow-ups always skip addresses that bounced and people who unsubscribed, and go only once per person.
Tracking results
A campaign’s page shows how it is doing: sent, opened, clicked, bounced and unsubscribed, and which links people clicked. Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and anyone who unsubscribes or bounces is left out of future campaigns automatically.
